A Personal project I did in a day or so. The octopus model itself was done for a previous project that I worked on at Giant animation but the model was never used. The background was quickly modelled in 3ds Max with some texturing done in zbrush. Rendered using corona renderer with about 65 passes and then comped in photoshop. The only other pass I rendered out was a Zdepth pass which can be seen below. The beach mesh I tessellated so I could get the bumps on the ground around the glasses and coconut. I also added hair and fur to the coconut for a bit more realism but its not very noticeable in the final image.
